Facts about Zoey Hughes

  • Breed: Beagle Mix
  • Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Zoey Hughes ~ 15 lbs ~ 1 yr old ~

Here is what her foster mom had to say about Zoey: Zoey is doing GREAT!!!! She is still very shy but is starting to come when I call her. She loves her bed and my bed, too! She gets along with my cats - even sleeps with my Maine Coon! - and my dogs.

Zoey usually goes outside to potty. If she has an accident in the house it is usually on a potty pad. She loves to run in the yard and has not tried to climb the fence at all. She is eating well but does not like any treats so far. I have tried hard and soft treats. She does love cheese balls. So she gets one when she comes inside from going potty.

She does as well as can be expected on a leash. She is a very sweet baby. She barked and howled for the first time on Saturday and is starting to act like a dog - yeah!

This is a glowing write-up, but Zoey is still profoundly shy and may not be quite ready for adoption just yet. Please still inquire if interested!

About Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland. Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland is dedicated to helping all beagles in need. Most of the dogs that come into the rescue are hunter rejects, either because they do not want to hunt, or because they are too old or simply ill. Our goal is to rehabilitate these wonderful companion dogs and place them in forever loving homes. We are a network of foster homes and rely solely on the dedication of volunteers. Our motto is: "Hug your hound, don't take him to the pound."

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have a centralized location, but you can visit our website to find out when and where we hold our adoption events (usually twice a month). We also take part in special fairs and events. You can come and meet with some of our dogs then.
If you see a dog on our website that you are interested in, we request that you first fill out our Application and submit it electronically.

Our Adoption Process...

We require submission of an online application. If all requirements are met, we do a home visit and check the vet reference (when it applies). Please refer to our website to see the kinds of questions we ask. We ask for a tax-deductible adoption donation of $300. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their shots (rabies, distemper and parvo, bordetella), are heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative, micro-chipped and de-wormed.
