Facts about Cookie

  • Breed: Macaw
  • Color: Red
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: $500.00
This is Cookie. He is a military macaw, approximately 37 years old and presumed male. Cookie is a very sweet and affectionate macaw once he gets to know you. Like many birds, he tends to be very cage territorial, however once out of his cage will step up, and enjoys having his head scratched. Still not quite comfortable with being pet anywhere else but he is a work in progress. Cookie is also missing several toes on one of her feet. He has been a plucker for quite some time and a lot of his follicles on his chest and wings are damaged, however he has gotten in a small amount of new feathers on the top part of his chest and legs. Cookie says Hello and loves to nod her head and say yeah yeah yeah. It's the cutest thing. Cookie is very female preferential and does not like me, therefore he and will only be adopted out to a woman, NO EXCEPTIONS. Cookie can be a bit of a brat when he doesn't get his way and will dump out his food bowl or throw it on the ground when he is out of his cage. He loves hanging out on top or being on his play stand. He would make a wonderful companion, however will require an experienced adopter with the time and patience to work with him and gain his trust. Cookie may not be the prettiest bird in the flock, but he has a heart of gold once he trusts you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Birdlink Sanctuary is not open to the public. Any and all visits are conducted on an appointment basis only.

Our Adoption Process...

All interested adopters must have an adoption application on file with us prior to visitation. We strive to find each bird the best possible home that will compliment their personality, and we do believe that the birds pick their new owners, therefore, we do require that potential adopters spend some time with the bird they are interested in. If you seem like a good match for one of the birds, You will be contacted to schedule an appointment to come out and meet the birds. Note that application does not guarantee adoption. Home visits as well as references are generally required to ensure that our birds will not be placed in breeder situations, with hoarders, or other unsuitable environments. We will however, make exceptions for the right home.
