My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SUNSHINE is an 8 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 97 pounds but she needs to lose about 15 of those pounds. Sunshine lives up to her name. She's always happy and smiling. This sweet girl ended up at the shelter and is now looking for someone to love her and help her lose weight. Sunshine rode very well in the car. She has gotten along with all the dogs she's met. We don't have any cat or kid history, so she's approved for kids 10 +.

Update: Because of her love of napping Sunshine is the perfect dog for working folks. On walks she likes to meet everyone. If you want a dog who is trustworthy in the house, doesn’t counter surf, loves car travel, and is happy as long as she has a bed, Sunshine is your girl!

Update: Are you looking for an easy-going dog? Sunshine is your answer! Found as a WV flooding stray in late June at 114 lbs, she came to her foster a month ago at 103 lbs and is now down to a slimmer 98 lbs (and has found her waistline!). She loves cuddles and car rides (seriously, I’ve never seen a dog stand next to cars EVERY time we go for a walk). Like a cat purrs, Sunshine sometimes snorts when one pets her. She has gotten the hang of how go upstairs and downstairs though she needs gentle encouragement and is very careful when she navigates downward. She prefers her dog bed and has no interest in the couch. If there was an Olympic medal for napping, Sunshine would be the golden girl favorite. She’s happy to nap all day while you’re at work and is comfortable with short walks – a perfect dog for working folks! On walks she likes to meet everyone in the neighborhood. if you want a dog who is trustworthy in the house, won’t chew anything she isn't supposed to, doesn’t counter surf, and is happy as long as she has a bed, Sunshine is your girl!

Update: Sunshine continues to open up and show her loving personality! She has begun to follow Foster Mom to the kitchen to watch her cook when she no longer sees her in the living room. Sunshine is a very calm dog who loves hanging out with her people and sleeping on her dog bed. She's very eager for walks and will get up and head to the front door anytime it's opened. She is trustworthy in the house and does not chew anything, counter surf, or need to be crated. Sunshine is an absolute joy who won't demand a lot of your time but will give you lots of love and affection.

Update: Sunshine is a very low maintenance girl and doesn't need to be attached to her human's hip. Sunshine loves napping on her dog bed and welcomes visitors with kisses and snuggles. She likes walks and car rides and is learning how to navigate long flights on stairs more confidently.
