Marty's Story...
Sometimes we are able to bring a collie mix into our SCR family. Marty is one of the lucky ones that are chosen. There are never enough adoptive homes or even foster homes for the mixes, let alone the ones that need extra special attention. Marty was a stray at a local shelter whose family did not come to look for him. He is a pretty gentle, unassuming guy, who is learning to love being a house dog and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs in his foster home. He was horribly matted, was full of flea dirt, and it took several sessions to show him that brushes and scissors were good things. His initial vet exam revealed a significant heart murmur, and it has been advised that he see a veterinary cardiologist for an echocardiogram. We plan to do that this next week. In the meantime, Marty is beginning to enjoy the good life. The only thing better would be a home of his own.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marty, a S. Pasadena Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie for sale in S. Pasadena, or seeking a Collie dog from a breeder in S. Pasadena.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in S. Pasadena already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a S. Pasadena breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie breeders who help with Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in S. Pasadena paves the way for another one to be saved.
