My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog's fosterhome is located in: Boca Raton, Florida

Elmo is a beautiful, purebred 5-year-old rat terrier who weighs about 12 pounds. Elmo is a very active dog and he loves to chase his rattie brother through the house and to run around in the yard and chase lizards, birds, and squirrels. He also likes to lay, sit, or sleep next to his person. Elmo enjoys going for walks around the neighborhood. He walks well on a leash, but while he is on a walk he may bark at dogs or people. He also barks when someone comes to the house and has attempted to nip, so he could use some help with socialization. He may be over-protective, or possibly is fearful and needs to build some self confidence. He has learned to ride in a car, though sometimes he cries. In the home, Elmo is mostly well-behaved, and knows not to chew on things that are not his. Elmo has learned to sit on command. He is mostly housetrained. He does well in places such as the dog park, vet's office, and the pet store. He has no experience at all being around cats, and very little experience with small children. Elmo is a very loving dog and will do well in a home with adults, and possibly would do well with older children if properly introduced.

Note: This dog is a "Guardian Assistance Placement" dog, meaning he/she is being cared for in a home that is not affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has supplied vet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibility to rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannot otherwise vouch for any of the information provided.

OUR ADOPTION FEE is $150 ($175 for puppies younger than 12 months; $200 for American Hairless Terriers).

IS THIS DOG AVAILABLE? If the bio above doesn't say that there's an adoption pending, then YES! he or she IS available. As soon as we approve an application, we'll post it, so you will NOT get more current info by emailing us to ask if the dog is available. To "get in line" to adopt or get more details, you MUST CLICK HERE to submit an Adoption Application.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS DOG?
The email address on this page is for website-related issues ONLY. For answers to specific questions about a particular dog, you MUST submit an Adoption Application! That is the only way to access the fosterparent for this particular dog, who is the only person who can answer specifics about this dog's personality or geographic location. (Our dogs are located in private fosterhomes around the state, and we do not provide those addresses on the Internet or to casual inquiries, and you cannot just "drop by" to see a dog without prearranging it with the fosterhome.) Because we are an all-volunteer organization and receive a very high volume of inquiries, we can only respond personally to people who have demonstrated a serious interest in adoption by filling out our application.
