Here's what the humans have to say about me:
What is a southern belle doing up here in the north? As you can see by the laughing face, having a great time.
Dixie came to our rescue as a stray from another shelter on the other side of this state. No one wanted her, no one came looking for her and no one was interested in adopting her. The shelter was trying hard to find Dixie a home but time began to run out for her.
The day came when the shelter had to make room for other incoming dogs and Dixie's time was finally up. A compassionate rescue worker with that shelter contacted us and told us about Dixie's last day. We were glad she did.
Dixie made the very long journey with us and was quiet as a mouse in the car. Sitting next to one foster mom in the car, Dixie was just relaxing and enjoying the ride to her new foster home.
Dixie was introduced to 2 black labs at her new foster home and they said come on in Dixie. A little yard playing, a lot of sniffing followed by a warm bubble bath and Dixie was feeling better then ever. The next stop was the vet's office. Good as gold for everyone there too.
Finally Dixie got to settle in with the labs, listen to some Kenny G and fell fast asleep. Phewwwwww, that was a great day.
Dixie is shy. Maybe it was a hurtful past, maybe it was a bad experience, it takes a little time for her to warm up to you but when she does, she's yours forever. Routine, consistency and patience have already brought Dixie far with the foster mom and the people and dogs she is meeting.
But what Dixie may temporarily lack in being outgoing, she makes up for in playtime. And this girl LOVES to play.
Dixie LOVES to run and play with others or content to throw her toys around all by herself. Because she is true to her breed, she will need a fenced in yard (wrought iron style or privacy ) to enjoy her outside activities. Dixie is also a very obedient and a very quiet girl.
Dixie is a Foxhound/Beagle mix, 3 years old, 52 pounds, UTD on vaccinations, housebroken, spayed and micro chipped.
