My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SYSCO is an 8 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 56 pounds. SYSCO is a friendly chap who has been down on his luck until now. He was discovered in a repair shop lying patiently next to a tool box, no one came to claim him... and thus his Chapter 2 begins. He can't wait to meet you!
From LR evaluator: Sysco stuck his head right into a bag of toys I brought to the shelter and playfully removed several, his favorite being the squeaky toy! He was very engaged during my visit, throwing toys around the office, tail wagging. He took treats gently and loved the petting, ear rubs and very happily did the lab lean and rubbed his back on my legs. Also likes tennis balls. Knows sit. For a dog who has missed out on so much, he is beyond forgiving to humans and ready to share his love and attention. He is underweight and his hip bones are showing; he could use a few steak-and-potato dinners. Sysco appears potty-trained. No touch issues. Needs a good food plan for slow weight gain. Happy and playful with other dogs; no cat/kid history. Overall a wonderful dog who truly would be a great companion! Sysco is approved for kids ages 10+.

UPdate: Sysco has learned the joys of being a coach potato. His favorite past times are hanging with his humans, taking walks, riding in the car, and playing with balls and squeaky toys. Sysco is super sweet and makes friends easily. He is a loyal companion.

Update: Sysco is an 8 year old happy, go lucky, curious dog. He loves humans, squeaky toys, car rides, walks, and food. He has done well with other dogs. Sysco did great today at the vet getting his last round of vaccines, but he still needs to gain a bit of weight. Sysco is learning his name and to chase after his toys during play sessions with his fosters. He is a loyal companion that wants to please his humans. Sysco will be at the Annapolis Adoption Event on Sunday, so come over and say Hi!

Update: Sysco is a loyal love bug who likes being around his humans, but doesn't need to be attached to them all the time. He enjoys sleeping in bed with his foster parents and now loves the comfort of the sofa. He is quite the deep sleeper and has a cute sounding snore. He will take all of the love you can get, doesn’t jump and is the perfect house guest.

And just look at how gently he takes treats: https://youtu.be/KRnp68cV6c0

Update:: Sysco LOVES car rides! Check out this video here: https://youtu.be/pzSzJCX4U68

Update: Sysco is an 8 year old male, approved for kids 10+. He was friendly when meeting a neighbor's dog today. He was great when the dog came into our house, drank out of his water bowl, and played with his toys. Sysco seemed like he wanted to play but he's still on restrictive activity due to his neuter surgery. Sysco's fur is becoming shiny and he barely sheds at all. He is now enjoying the comforts of a home and helps himself to the doggie beds, sofa, and foster mom's bed. He did great while foster mom was away for two days for a business trip. He quickly bonded with Foster Grandmom and enjoyed hanging out with her for a few days. Sysco is so adaptable and very sweet; it's hard to believe he's only been at his foster for a week! He now will give warning barks if someone visits and will quickly stop when you tell him or he recognizes the person. Overall he's super quiet in the house.

Update: Sysco is an easy going and happy 8 year old fella. He does not discriminate between ear, butt, or belly rubs; He loves them all! He has a great lab lean and will graciously take all the love you want to give. Sysco is not fearful of people and does not get alarmed when a loud noise is made. Recent thunderstorms have not impacted him, and he is not afraid of the vacuum. It is very clear Sysco has fond memories of vehicles and the garage; he absolutely loves to get in any vehicle and go for rides. Sysco is happy to play with his toys alone and is learning to play with his humans. He thoroughly enjoys walks and looking outside. He is a deep sleeper at night and during naps. Sysco has been sleeping in bed with his foster mom. He will go up and down a closed flight of steps but is a bit hesitant to do an open flight. He doesn’t mind being brushed. Sysco listens well and should do fine learning basic commands, as he loves snacks! He is extremely adaptable and it’s been fun to watch him take on different personalities based on who in the family he is interacting with. He seems to especially like men! Initially in his foster home Sysco seemed a bit hesitant to stay upstairs with his foster mom, and it seemed like he felt he was doing something he wasn't supposed to. As he's gotten more comfortable, he is staying up there longer and is becoming more confident in the house overall. He baked for the first time the other day when he saw a cat in the alley and will also let you know when someone is at the door, but other than that, he's a quiet boy. Sysco really is a great dog and will be a fantastic companion.

Update: Sysco is an 8 year old and is a gentle soul. Within only six hours at his foster home, he was fitting in well and seemed like part of the family. He likes to carry his squeaker toy and lay on the cool tile floor. He doesn't yet understand how comfy a dog bed is. He loves the car (will jump in if a door is open), going for walks, and looking out of the eye-level windows. Sysco will sit at your side and let you rub him for as long as you prefer. He is a fast walker and is good with leash commands. He did well with letting new people meet him in the neighborhood. Sysco slept well through the night, even with a cone around his head (due to his neuter surgery). He is house trained, loves to be loved and with his humans. Sysco needs to gain some weight and that shouldn't be a problem because he is a good eater. He is calm yet playful. Sysco has access to the entire house and did great for a few hours unsupervised. He understands 'No' but will need to learn other basic commands. He is truly going to be a wonderful companion. He does well taking his medications with a bit of cheese. Sysco seems to show a bit of interest in counter surfing, so it's best to put things away.
