Harvey: 6 years old, black and tan neutered male, natural tail and ears, 12 lbs and 13". Shots up-to-date, owner surrender. ~ Special Needs Dog.
This goof ball is looking for a home all his own where he can spend many more years being loved and entertaining you. Harvey is a clown who needs to spend as much time as he can with people - preferably his people but in a pinch any people will do. This boy is very, very smart and will keep you on your toes. Belly rubs are one of his favorite past times so beware...Car rides are pretty cool in his opinion as well.
Harvey gets along with all other dogs and is very playful. He walks well on a leash and really enjoys meeting new people. Harvey is good with children 6 and up. He is a real snuggle bug. Harvey wants to be right next to you on the couch, in your lap if you will let him. As with most min pins he is very treat motivated. He LOVES rawhide twists.
He is a bit of an escape artist if left unattended. He has dug under my fence once (the dirt was soft) and he figured out how to open the gate enough for him to squeeze out at the bottom. Both instances occurred when I left him home alone. On the bright side, he almost always comes when called, even if there is no treat involved.
Harvey is house trained using a dog door. He is also crate trained. I crate him whenever I go out as he will explore the garbage and anything else he can figure out how to get into when left alone. I do let him sleep in the bed with me at night and he causes no trouble at all. Its the people thing.
Harvey was hit by a car when he was young. Everything healed well (broken leg and pelvis) and he has had no problems until recently. He is sometimes incontinent when he falls asleep now. Not every time, just once in a while. After a thorough exam by our rescue vet no issues were found. Harvey's blood work was perfect, no heart or muscle issues, lungs are clear. He has been prescribed Proin Phenylpropanolamine twice per day. He has had no episodes since he was placed on the medication a month ago. Its very reasonable (about $20 a month) and you can order it from an on-line pharmacy if you have a prescription. Our vet has recommended that he take it for the rest of his life. The pill can be added to his food or given as a treat (which he loves).
Harvey is one of the sweetest Min Pins I have ever fostered. He will do best in a home where there are people around most of the time. If you are looking for a companion, please consider Harvey. I know he would love to meet you! If interested please contact his foster mom, Suzanne at: smslayton@yahoo.com.
Note: Harvey is located in CA in the Sacramento area - and we will not fly this boy.
