Xena's Story...
Xena came to us from the shelter. She is a very cute Maltese mix who prances around the house like a pony. She has a previous injury to her lumbar spine and hip area. She will be seen by an orthopedic surgeon next week to determine if surgery would benefit her. Xena is approximately 2 yrs old, about 7 lbs., spayed and vaccinated. She does not ride well in the car – she experiences motion sickness. Xena likes to be petted and is a very independent girl. She sleeps in her dog bed, explores outside and runs to the door when someone comes. If you are interested in adopting Xena? Please go to and submit an adoption application. MRC would love to give Xena a new furever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Xena, a Covina Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Covina, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Covina.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Covina already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Covina breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Covina paves the way for another one to be saved.
