My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY POST PLEASE READ FULL BIO AND CONTACT INFO AT END

Sophie is not a rescue foster dog with our rescue, but a dog the owner needs to place. They have asked me place Sophie in a wonderful new home. You will find my contact info to contact me directly at the bottom of this bio. thank you for reading all info before contacting Debbie.

Sophie is a small dog 19.8 lbs whom her owners don't have the time for or finances to care for her. Since having a child 2 dogs are too much for them. Sophie will be 8 yrs old in Dec. She is said to be a Schnauzer mix and we are guessing Maltese or similar breed. Her current ownerssaid she has terrier in her but we don't see it, We see she is cute and fluffy. She does shed some and regular grooming will be needed to maintain her cute look. She is a going to need a little time to adjust to a new home, but once she does she will be your cuddle bug and she will enjoying going for walks with you. She has little experience with kids & is nervous around them so she would be happiest in a quiet adult home or a home with older teens. She has not ever been around cats so a cat free home would be best. She is crate trained and likes to chew on strong toys like a Kong stuffed with treats. She will chew up the small dog toys. She is playful and not hyper but not a couch potato either. She has lived with her dog brother since birth so another small dog in her home should be fine, but meeting first is a must.. She appears to be skittish of larger dogs. We are told she will run & fast if given the opportunity so we are seeking a home with a secure fenced yard. Sophie enjoys hanging out with her family outside on nice days. Sophie is looking for a family where she can have an active role in their lives and be loved and taken care of.
UPDATE 8-5-16: Sophie saw the vet today and got her rabies vaccination and hw test ,and heartworm and fecal were negative. She is in bad need of a dental soon, but her owners can't afford it so her new family will need to arrange to do this shortly after she is adopted. She has a small fatty cyst on chest/tummy area that may need to be removed in future, but we will let her new family discuss if necessary with their vet.

Her adoption fee is a $150 donation to Animal Heartline Humane Assoc.

PLEASE CONTACT Debbie for an application: dhbirdlover@gmail.com

We are a small group of caring volunteers, and a home visit is requirement of adoption, therefore local adoptions only please ( within 50 miles of Aurora IL )
