Cary Grant's Story...
Meet Cary Grant! He is a very matted dog found as a stray by animal control. He is a young, black, and super friendly standard poodle, doodle, or portugese water dog. We will know more once we resolve the extremely matted and skinny boy, vet him, and see what he looks like under all the mess. Watch for more pictures and details soon! A big thank you to Candy for alerting us, animal control for working with us, and Doreen for making the 4 hour round trip to retrieve and transport him to us!

We do not adopt out of state nor to families with children under the age of 10 years old. You must view our web site at for further information on our process and policies and/or to make a donation. Please email for additional questions and/or an adoption application only after you review our web site. This allows us to spend more time with our animals.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cary Grant, a Alpharetta Poodle (Standard)/Portuguese Water Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Poodle (Standard)/Portuguese Water Dog for sale in Alpharetta, or seeking a Poodle (Standard)/Portuguese Water Dog dog from a breeder in Alpharetta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Alpharetta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Alpharetta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Poodle (Standard)/Portuguese Water Dog breeders who help with Poodle (Standard)/Portuguese Water Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Alpharetta paves the way for another one to be saved.
