My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Clara! Aka, 'Clara of the Forest', 'Clara of the Lake', and 'Clara of the hills'. Why these names? Wherever we take this girl out walking, her beauty, majesty, and calmness, is parallel to the beauty of the nature we are in.
Clara is a 2.5 year old Saint Bernard. She is extra large and has an appetite to match. She is affectionate, loves and needs to be with her family (she becomes a whinny baby if she can't be at your feet). Clara also thinks she's a 5lb lap dog, so in other words she loves to crawl up on you and curl in like a little calf.

This lovely girl gets along with almost all dogs and cats (although she's not always aware if she's laying on one). Clara should meet all dogs in her potential forever home first, before adoption.
She is also great on leash but has been mostly off leash with us. Clara would do best with older, gentle children, as her size and clumsiness or a quick swing of her hips, tends to take out tables, chairs, and sometimes knees. Despite this, she is a gentle giant.

She would also require a fully fenced yard, because of her large breed independence, she would come and go as she pleased if allowed. A country home would be best for her, it would support her size, need for exercise and extra large bark, which she uses when left alone.

Her forever home will have to also be dedicated to a lifetime of health support for her. Her large breed status means she needs quality food for her joints and well being. She also has food allergies that we think are from corn and wheat. She gets ear infections if she eats food with either. She also will get an ear infection if she swims and her ears get water inside. She needs them wiped out as soon as she's out of the water.
