Bertha's Story...
Bertha is an incredibly affectionate cat, she gets up and walks over to greet you whenever you come home. She loves lots and lots of petting. She’ll lay with you on the bed and the couch, climb on your lap or chest, and purr contentedly while you pet her and she head butts your hands over and over again. Bertha is also very talkative, she makes a variety of distinctive sounds based on her mood, it’s quite adorable. She’s got lots of personality, she’s very charming with new people and easy to love.

Bertha is looking for a foster or a forever home. Bertha was rescued as a stray in central Virginia before being brought to the shelter and then coming to 4Paws. Bertha is blind, but she doesn’t let it slow her down at all and she’s incredibly confident with new people. She gets around just fine so long as you don’t move the furniture around too much. Sometimes Bertha can be startled and bumps into things, so she would do best in a quieter home without young children. Bertha is a hoping you’ll see how special she is and help her find a foster or forever home!

Bertha was born in November 2011. She’s been spayed, micro-chipped, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and is up to date on all her shots.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bertha, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
