Here's what the humans have to say about me:
A good samaritan was feeding a young and friendly stray kitty - when she disappeared for a few days. Upon her return - she was limping and seemed to be in pain. He took the kitty in and brought it to the attention of a Lucky You! foster parent.
Upon meeting this sweet, 7 month old grey tabby girl, the foster new she had to do something to help. She named this gentle and social kitty Layla and we got her in to see the vets at the Animals' Hospital of Levittown right away. We had x-rays taken and a surgical consult. Layla has a dislocated hip and her tendons/muscles are torn, meaning she needs surgery to repair the injury! The Animals' Hospital was unable to perform the surgery needed - an FHO procedure. A femoral head ostectomy (FHO) is a surgical procedure that removes the head and neck from the femur. FHO surgery is performed to alleviate pain. It is a salvage procedure, reserved for condition where pain can not be alleviated in any other way.
Luckily, we were able to get pain medicine and get her into another vet for emergency surgery to get Layla back on her feet (literally)! Layla will need a few months to recover before she can truly be adopted, but she's hoping a loving family will already be waiting for her. So Lucky You is accepting applications now.
We are so THANKFUL to Dr. Patel and the staff at Woodbourne - but we need your help! Between x-rays, bloodwork, pre-surgical consults, and post-surgical follow up, we are looking at more than $1,000 in medical expenses. Please consider donating even just a dollar or two to help Layla get the care she needs and find the home she deserves! SHARE FOR LAYLA!
