Thinking about bringing Mandy or another wonderful Senior Springer into your family? Read why rescuing Senior Springers is a top priority for ESRA.
Our lovely Mandy is frequently found curled up on the couch watching television. As a calm adult dog, she enjoys taking leisurely walks and occasionally running a few laps around the yard or romping in the fields. Many is hard of hearing, so she sleeps very soundly.

Her twice-daily meal times are Mandy's favorite parts of the day. Her new family will need to resist Mandy's pleas for extra meals; after losing thirty pounds she's now at a healthy weight.

Mandy was in pretty rough shape when she was taken in by our volunteers, but with a lot of great care, she has turned into a much younger and healthier version of herself! She has received all necessary vet care including the removal of a 1.6 pound lipoma (fatty tumor) from her left rib cage area. She also had a dental cleaning with multiple tooth extractions. Now that her health has improved, she is ready to find her Forever Home.

To help her stay strong and healthy, Mandy is currently under the care of a rehabilitation veterinarian. It would be great if she could continue to see her rehab vet in Burnsville, Minnesota after she is adopted.

Mandy's ideal home will have a slower pace but will let her be involved in the daily life of her family. She doesn't like riding in the car, but she is comfortable being at home alone. She would also do best with few stairs, as she's not very careful on them!

Mandy is one of those very good dogs who is easy to live with and to love. She has lots of life left to live and devotion to give to her new Forever Family. So if you think this special girl might be the one for you, contact her case managers at the e-mail address below.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Mandy.

About English Springer Rescue America, Inc. - Minneapolis Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA) is a national referral and foster care purebred placement organization, and a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. ESRA's mission is to provide foster care to English Springers impounded by humane societies, private shelters, and animal control facilities nationwide, as well as to offer adoption referral services for those agencies.

Our Adoption Process...

Thank you for considering a rescue Springer. Rescue Springers are extremely loving and intelligent dogs looking for a caring home to give them a second start at life.

The following adoption application will help us determine the characteristics you are looking for in a dog, as well as who in our organization will respond to your inquiry. Please read this page carefully!

Adoption applications and fees will be required. The adoption fee for a dog in ESRA's foster care program is $300, except for dogs in our Seniors for Seniors program, for which the adoption fee is waived if both the dog and adopter are senior citizens. Foster dogs placed are spayed and neutered, current with vaccinations, and heartworm negative. We do ask that if you adopt a dog through our referral program, you make a tax-deductible donation to help us continue to care for other Springers who need assistance when found to be unwanted, abandoned, and abused.

When meeting a rescue dog, please try to spend as much time as possible with the dog to evaluate compatibility before making the decision to adopt. If you consider an interstate adoption, please discuss the dog's temperament, health, and transportation options very thoroughly with the shelter or foster home before making the decision to adopt the dog. In the best interest of yourself, your family, and the rescue dog, please make certain that the dog you choose to adopt is the right dog for you. Adoption is a big commitment!

It should be understood that applications for adopting a Springer through English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA) are subject to acceptance based on a review process that requires collecting information from an application, phone interview, vet and/or personal reference check, and possibly a home visit. This information should be submitted, and this process completed, before you meet a rescue dog available for adoption.

Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an "art", not a "science", and there might be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the ESRA coordinator after reviewing all available information. ESRA reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is absolutely no guarantee, made or implied, that any person or persons requesting to adopt a Springer Spaniel being fostered through ESRA, or posted on ESRA's web site, will be granted an adoption.
