Mandy was picked up as a stray in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in January of 2016. We're still not sure how this sweet older girl ended up as a stray, but she has been embracing the good life since coming into ESRA's care.

We don't know exactly how old Mandy is, but her veterinarian estimates her to be around eight years old. She has some age-related changes to her eyes, but she can still see very well. She is hard of hearing. Mandy was in pretty rough shape when she was taken in by our volunteers, but with a lot of great care, she's working on getting healthy! She will soon have a dental cleaning, and the large lump on her left rib cage will be removed before she goes to her new home.

Mandy is currently working out on the underwater treadmill to help her lose weight safely and gain muscle. Since January, she has lost twenty pounds, with just a bit more yet to lose. Mandy is currently under the care of a rehabilitation veterinarian to help her get strong and healthy. It would be great if she could continue to see her rehab vet once she has been adopted so that she can remain as strong and physically healthy as possible.

Mandy loves to be involved in the daily life of her family, but she is also comfortable being left home alone. She enjoys going for walks, running laps around the yard, napping in the sun, cuddling, and playing with a select few toys. She's just one of those very good dogs who is easy to live with and to love.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Mandy.

About English Springer Rescue America, Inc. - Minneapolis Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA) is a national referral and foster care purebred placement organization, and a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. ESRA's mission is to provide foster care to English Springers impounded by humane societies, private shelters, and animal control facilities nationwide, as well as to offer adoption referral services for those agencies.

Our Adoption Process...

Thank you for considering a rescue Springer. Rescue Springers are extremely loving and intelligent dogs looking for a caring home to give them a second start at life.

The following adoption application will help us determine the characteristics you are looking for in a dog, as well as who in our organization will respond to your inquiry. Please read this page carefully!

Adoption applications and fees will be required. The adoption fee for a dog in ESRA's foster care program is $300, except for dogs in our Seniors for Seniors program, for which the adoption fee is waived if both the dog and adopter are senior citizens. Foster dogs placed are spayed and neutered, current with vaccinations, and heartworm negative. We do ask that if you adopt a dog through our referral program, you make a tax-deductible donation to help us continue to care for other Springers who need assistance when found to be unwanted, abandoned, and abused.

When meeting a rescue dog, please try to spend as much time as possible with the dog to evaluate compatibility before making the decision to adopt. If you consider an interstate adoption, please discuss the dog's temperament, health, and transportation options very thoroughly with the shelter or foster home before making the decision to adopt the dog. In the best interest of yourself, your family, and the rescue dog, please make certain that the dog you choose to adopt is the right dog for you. Adoption is a big commitment!

It should be understood that applications for adopting a Springer through English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA) are subject to acceptance based on a review process that requires collecting information from an application, phone interview, vet and/or personal reference check, and possibly a home visit. This information should be submitted, and this process completed, before you meet a rescue dog available for adoption.

Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an "art", not a "science", and there might be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the ESRA coordinator after reviewing all available information. ESRA reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is absolutely no guarantee, made or implied, that any person or persons requesting to adopt a Springer Spaniel being fostered through ESRA, or posted on ESRA's web site, will be granted an adoption.
