My name is Buffy. I am 5 or 6 year old pomeranian chihuahua girl looking for an EXPERIENCED Furever Family to give me a special loving home of my own, as I do come with a mixed bag of traits!

First, you should be aware I'm an exceptionally fearful dog. It took a couple of months and LOTS of work on my Foster Pawrents part to get me to come out of the kennel when they were around. I warmed up to my Foster Dad first. I'm still quite fearful of my Foster Mom, but I'm very slowly getting there.

Secondly, I LOVE other animals. I do! They're great. My Foster Furbrother has taught me to play and it's a joy! I also enjoy walks, although it might look like I don't because I like to bark throughout. I'm learning to come for affection, but it has to be on my terms still.

As I said, I come with a mixed bag of traits. I need a guardian who has experience in working with someone like me, who knows that there is potential underneath all this fluff. I am spayed, current on shots, microchipped, dewormed, and even had my teeth cleaned so they'll be pretty the day I am comfortable enough to smile! My adoption fees are $300. If you might be interested in adopting me, please send an email to and start an application with CaliCan!

About CaliCan Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

What do we do:
Give dogs a chance. A chance for a home; a family; to be spoiled; to be loved. CaliCan is run by dedicated volunteers in California and Alberta. We’re all working for the same team – The Dogs. All adoption fees and donations go towards all necessary medical costs, flights, and future rescues.

Why California? It can be quite difficult to find a “small-breed dog” without going to your local pet store or backyard breeder. Not all breeders are bad, either. CaliCan hopes that by flying pups in from California (which is filled with small breeds), we are helping put a dent on the puppy mill problem Canada has.

Why local too? Life happens. You may have gotten your little dog with the best of intentions of spending every non-working moment with them...but a new job with more hours, or loss of a job, or any number of other reasons is preventing you from giving them the time and attention they deserve. When you make the most difficult decision of allowing your pup to find a new family to love him/her, we will do our best to try to help you.

We do what we do because we love dogs - and we appreciate the completeness they bring to all our lives!

Our Adoption Process...

Every dog deserves the best! That's why we operate on a "Best Fit" basis, ensuring the pup and their potential family will match what each other is looking for!

We are thorough in our processes - instead of an online application, we prefer to chat with you and get to know you and your family. This is to ensure that we keep our Best Fit practice running strong, to protect these little dogs and the families who contact us.

We DO NOT have the ability to do meet-n-greets with our pups (unless we have a special adoption event scheduled), but instead offer a 7-Day Trial Visit to the successful applicant.

At the start of the 7-Day-Trial-Visit, we conduct a home visit to ensure the pup is safe and secure. We collect the adoption fees at the start of the visit.

When you sign the adoption contract with us, you will receive your pup's medical records containing the entire medical history from the moment they entered our rescue.
