My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ROSIE -

ROSIE is a 4 year old gorgeous smooth, black and tan female mini Dachshund (akc w no papers), recently brought to Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc to find a loving forever family of her very own. Although Rosie had a bit of a rough start to her life, she is full of love and truly a princess...one of the best at the Rescue. She is beautiful, smart, minds well and doesn't bark. Rosie is just as cute as cute can be. She has now been fully vetted, spayed, had all her shots and a dental with some extractions. While not fully house trained yet (she has lived in a cage until she was brought to ODR, Inc.), she does tell you when she needs to go potty.

Have we mentioned that Rosie is super sweet, loveable, adorable and just an all around wonderful Doxie? While she gets along great at the rescue, we believe she will do best as the only fur child with a stay at home parent (retired/work from home) and older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, ROSIE is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, ROSIE needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. ROSIE may be small in stature, but she is big on cuteness levels and personality. You're going to love her as much as we do at the Rescue.

To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give ROSIE a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
