My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Pee Wee, a Chihuahua mix born in 2011. I am a spunky little guy who is a good walker when the weather is dry and not too cold (or hot). Otherwise, I am a mellow man who likes to nap or be held. I am a good car rider, and I enjoy chasing a toy with you and retrieving (winning) it for a little toss. I have the softest skin on my belly which I will show to you for a little petting. Since I do have allergies I am on a grain free diet. I like to play with dogs my size, but big dogs sometimes make me nervous. I am pretty good with the sit command (although my hiney is too delicate for cold or prickly surfaces), down and come as well. I love meaty treats. I am cautious when meeting new people and need a little time to warm up to new faces. Small children make me nervous. If I could be the boy for you, please fill out an application today.

****My adoption fee is $195.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
