My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Remember that expression, "Nobody beats the Wiz?" Well, I hope that is true. Because this tiny little Jack Russell/Yorkie/Maltese mix boy has had to endure a great many obstacles in his short life, and I hope that doesn't "beat him." Wizard literally was dropped off - the car slowed down just enough to dump him - at the Babylon Animal Shelter, where, fortunately, the dedicated staff and volunteers took him into the facility. He looked like he had been through a terrible ordeal - his long, brindle coat completely matted, filthy, shaking, and desperately sad. The "humans" who dumped him could not have been anything more than cruel to this poor angel. To his credit, though, Wizard is coming around and learning, in a very short time, how to trust again. Dogs are amazing that way, and we expect so much of them. Too many dogs are abused, neglected, and abandoned by the people they love and who should love them the most. Then within days, they forgive the human race and are ready to love again. I only wish people had that generous capacity, don't you?
When I met him today, I gave him a few minutes to "get to know me." I fed him (he loved that). Then, he sat right by me. Before long I was able to scratch under his chin. But, he did flinch when I got up too fast. Wizard seems to have bonded with my friend, Tom, a volunteer there. Tom, apparently is able to hold him and coddle him. That tells me that Wizard could be the perfect little boy for someone with a lot of love and a lot of time to give to him. After the life that we are sure this poor soul has had, he deserves nothing less.
If you or someone you know would like to give this darling a good, safe, life full of love, you will not be sorry. This tiny boy has a big heart, and will love you until the end of his days. Wizard is fine with other little dogs. But due to his past life, no small children.
Please call Babylon Animal Shelter: (631) 643-9270. If Tom is there, I am sure he will introduce you.
