Hi, My name is Izzy!

Looking for that special someone? So am I!

I am a beautiful German Shepherd /Mastiff mix. I am just 6 years old and I weigh 65 pounds – every ounce of it filled with love! I have been spayed and am up to date on my shots. I am very well behaved and perfectly house trained. I love people so much, and am always happy to see you – whether you have been away from me for a month – or a minute.

My owner, a single male, loves me very much. When he got me, he was in a relationship, and between him and his partner, I got all the attention I needed. Unfortunately, things did not work out, and he has been on his own caring for me for the past 2 years.

Recently, things became very difficult because his job has required that he travel. He is away from me far too much, and I am lonely as a result. Sometimes I cry when he is gone, which our human neighbors don’t enjoy.

I get so lonely when my owner is gone! Sometimes I cry, and our neighbors don’t like it…
I also was recently diagnosed with Addison’s Disease and will need to be given medication for the rest of my life. My owner is prepared to bear the cost of my medications for my new owners. The condition is well controlled, and I am feeling great with many good years left to offer love and companionship.

My owner is dearly hoping to find me a very good home where I will receive the love and care that I need and very much deserve. I’m not good with other pets, so it’s essential that I be placed in a situation where I am the only pet. I don’t have a lot of experience with children, but would probably love them, as long as they are old enough to respect dogs and treat me well.

I’m looking for a home, preferably in a country setting, with people who have lots of time to spend with me. I am a wonderful, loyal and affectionate companion. I’m a sit-at-your-feet kind of dog that likes to make my owners feel very special and loved.

My owner would love to keep in touch with me once I am placed in my new home. He just wants what is best for me, and is unable to provide me with the time and attention I need and very much deserve.

Please offer me a loving, forever home today. I can’t wait to show off my expressive eyebrows and show you my special kind of unconditional love.

If you would like to consider offering Izzy a loving, forever home, please fill out our Request To Meet A Pet form here:

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Izzy, a New York German Shepherd Dog/English Mastiff dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/English Mastiff for sale in New York, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/English Mastiff dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/English Mastiff breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/English Mastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
