Kat's Story...
Hello. My name is Kat and I am a young (estimated to be 1 year 3 months old), female medium mix dog. The volunteers here at the shelter believe I look like I have Labrador Retriever and some kind of terrier in me. I don't know - I'm just a beautiful girl!

I arrived at the shelter back in mid April 2016 after someone found me living under the porch of an abandoned house. Some very nice people rescued me and I arrived at Gail's Pets. A week later I gave birth to 14 puppies! Unfortunately the first 5 didn't make it because I didn't know what to do. But, my surviving 9 puppies are doing great. They are big and healthy. I was finally able to wean them and then I had to wait for my milk to dry up before I could be spayed. All of that is now done, so I am looking for a furrever home.

I get along great with other dogs. I'm currently in a pen with a 5 month old puppy and we are getting along great. I also love to go for walks.

(It was very hot on the day I was having my pictures taken and I was panting alot. I heard they are going to take some new pictures of me soon.)

Kat resides at a rescue organization in Arkansas. Please contact Gail Ross at 870-431-8229, or via email at to discuss this dog. You can find our adoption application by going to and clicking on the Adoption Application tab. The application, when completed and submitted, will be electronically sent to Gail’s email address.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kat, a Oakland Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
