My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET LULU-

Absolutely the cutest, funniest little girl, LULU is all puppy. This little Wirehaired Dachshund / Scottish Terrier puppy is just 21 months old and 12 lbs. She just arrived and is SUPER DUPER cute. As funny as she is, LULU also enjoys just chillin' and loves to be held. Although she had a bit of a rough start to her young life, she is doing fabulous at the Rescue.

LULU will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. She could do well with a gentlemanly, neutered male Doxie as a companion. If you're looking for a special puppy for a family pet, you'll want to reach out soon.

Like all Dachshunds, LULU is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, LULU needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. She loves laying in the garden at the Rescue.

As an important note, while small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up LULU and her new forever family for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to a familiy that lives in a single family home with a secure fenced yard.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give LULU a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
