Facts about Luke Skywalker

  • Breed: Dachshund/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Puppy
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: Luke
Luke was found in South Union, Houston, TX after a resident contacted one of our field volunteers and was desperate to get this 8 month pup out of her house. She was terrified and said that her husband beats the dog daily and that he had just thrown the pup against the wall. She was afraid the dog would end up dead if it stayed. It was obvious there was more abuse going on than just the dog but we did not push the issue in order to get the dog out without the husband getting involved. When we picked up Luke, he was terrified, his eye was full of blood. He would not let anyone touch him. He would cry, growl and cower as he thought he was going to get beaten again. Once he realized he was finally safe and we were not going to hurt him, he settled down and cuddled.

Luke is a super sweet boy and loves sleeping under the blankets and cuddle. He has lots of energy to run and play. He is potty pad trained and house trained, he is crate trained but due to the abuse he has separation anxiety and can not be crated alone. He needs to be crated with another pup, although he doesn't need to be crated. He is great to be left loose in the house. He is good with dogs, cats, children and great on a leash.

Luke has separation anxiety and a fear of meeting people due to his abuse. He is good with people once he meets them and realizes they will not hurt him. Luke needs a family that will understand his needs and let him sleep in bed with them to comfort him, understand his separation anxiety and know he can not be left alone in a crate. He needs a family with at least another small dog that he can be crated with or left with when mom and dad are not home so that he doesn't feel alone. He is a very special boy and needs a special family. Luke has so much love to give and will love you unconditionally.

About Pet Rescue Team

About Our Rescue Group...

Pet Rescue Team is a foster based rescue group that focuses on rescuing homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused companion animals in the Houston, Tx and surrounding areas.

Houston, Tx has an over population of stray animals of 1.2 million and it continues to rise. The hardest hit areas of course are in the low income communities of Houston. We focus on one of those communities, South Union & Sunnyside, in Southside Houston boarding the 3rd Ward.

We do our best to educate the community of the importance of spay/neuter and basic care of their pets. We help as many of them that need help with vet care and food for their pets. We focus on the street dogs and try to help keep them alive while we network them to get them off the streets and vetted, rehabilitated and socialized so that they can be placed in a loving forever home.

Come Meet Our Pets...

If you are interested in meeting one of our pets please email us at and we can set up a meet and greet. Please be aware that in order to meet and greet our adoptables, you must submit an adoption/foster application.

Our Adoption Process...

Pet Rescue Team has an adoption and interview process that allows us to make sure that we match you with the perfect pet for your family. There is an application to be completed followed by an interview and follow up that may include a phone call, email or home visit. Depending on the breed you are interested in, a home inspection may be required prior to adoption approval.

After the application has been submitted and reviewed, you will be contacted by the foster of the pet you are interested so that you may have a meet and greet and any questions can be answered by the foster as they have been caring for the pet and know his/her personality and demeanor best.

Our adoption fee is $175 and it does include spay/neuter, vaccinations, rabies, de-wormer, and microchip.

If you are interested in meeting a specific dog/cat please let us know and we can arrange a meet and greet with the foster. Please keep in mind that Pet Rescue Team is a foster and volunteer based rescue group and all are unpaid. We try to respond to you as quickly as possible but please allow us 2-3 days to get back to you.

Please go to our website at and fill out an application (required to foster or adopt one of our adoptable pets)
