My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STEVIE WONDER IN WICHITA, KANSAS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

If you are interested in adopting Stevie Wonder who is being fostered in a private home near Kansas City , please fill out our adoption application on our website at http://www.brusselsgriffonrescue.org/ or direct inquiries to Jan at nbgrtexas@yahoo.com

National Brussels Griffon Rescue's very own Stevie Wonder is officially available to sweep you off your feet, make your heart swoon, and bring forever love, devotion, and happiness into your life! This suave 4 year old is in the prime of his life with a magnetic personality, loves cuddles, and is guaranteed to steal your heart away! He has been blind since birth but he sees life through his heart, and his heart gives him clear vision of what love is, but more importantly how to give love!

Stevie loves women, men, and especially older respectful children. He gets along with all the dogs in his foster family's home, and can often be found napping with them. Kids are especially drawn to Stevie's magnetic personality, and the expression on his face when he is around children is absolutely heart warming! We can envision this amazing boy as an excellent children's therapy dog! This little guy does not have a mean bone in his body, and is one of the most mellow, laid back, happy dogs we've seen come into rescue for a very long time.

Within a few hours of arriving at his foster home, he quickly acclimated himself to his surroundings, learned how to go up and down stairs, can jump on and off the living room furniture along with the big bed at night, and after only a couple of indoor accidents, easily figured out the house hold routine, and now goes to the back door to let his foster mom know he needs to go outside.

In no time at all he learned how to navigate the entire fenced back yard. He never ceases to amaze his foster family! Stevie also walks well on lead, and is a very polite car rider!

All Stevie wants out of life is to love and be loved...nothing more...nothing less! He is his foster mom's constant shadow and would be in her lap every second if she had the time to do nothing but sit in the recliner and snuggle with him. Obviously, Stevie MUST sleep in the big bed at night with his family, but he is a very polite sleeper and does not demand too much space. As long as he is near you, and you give him a few hugs, kisses, and snuggles Stevie is in heaven!

None of us can understand how his previous family could be so cold hearted as to move away, and leave him alone in his backyard to fend for himself! Luckily a neighbor saw his plight, and through an ad she placed a Griffy lover picked Stevie up, and contacted NBGR. Stevie quickly put it all behind him, and has charmed everyone he has met so far!

Stevie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, is on monthly heart worm preventative, and micro chipped. He is slightly over weight at 26 lbs. and should weigh between 20-22 lbs. His foster family has him on a weight loss program, so he should be at a healthy weight in no time at all.

So what are you waiting for? Everyone wants that special someone in their life, and here's Stevie! What more could you want?

We never place dogs in homes reliant on electric or invisible fencing to contain pets. Fencing of this type may or may not keep a dog in the yard, nor does this type of fencing protect pets from predators, free roaming dogs, or people who may enter the yard. Should there be a power outage, the fence would be rendered useless. If a pet were to panic and run through the barrier and take an electrical jolt from the fence, that pet would not be inclined to return home, and could be lost forever.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
