My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Nordic Paws Project has brought us another stunning boy. Maska, a 10-month-old, Husky mix had a traumatic voyage; you see, he arrived at Animatch with a mouthful of porcupine quills. Thanks to our Animatch Vet, he has had them removed and is recovering nicely. The dogs from the Northern Communities are serene and wise; don’t get us wrong, they are also fun-loving and require lots of exercise and playtime. Despite their harsh beginnings, they seem to put their trust in humans very quickly even though none of them have been pets. They were strays who foraged for food in garbage and if they were lucky they got an occasional handout. Under their thick coats, the dogs are lean and thin when they arrive; winter is cold and harsh and they do what they can to find refuge under trailers or houses. You may have noticed that we rarely have senior dogs from the North – or even three or four year olds. The reason is because the life expectancy is under two years. The absence of veterinary services in the isolated communities means that dogs are not sterilized and therefore the overpopulation of dogs is staggering. Hopefully, one day this can change because we, as humans, need to step it up a notch. There are just too many left behind. In the meantime, Maska, a shy dog whose life is about to take a turn for the better, is in need of a furever home. If you would like to continue this journey with him, you will not be disappointed. Please fill in the Adoption Form if you are interested in adopting Maska.
