Ellie's Story...
This little petite gal was picked up as a stray yesterday, but because we had so many people wanting updates we have decided to make her album early.
**Ellie will not be avaiable for adoption until after 8-30-2016**
Ellie was taken directly to the vet yesterday. Her eye, possilbly started as acute glacomoa is now considered chronic glacoma. She has no vision in this eye and does not appear to be in any pain. We plan on remooving her eye, however she was infested with fleas and her bloodwork showed she is very anemic. So her spay, and eye removal will be re-visited in about 2-3 weeks. Her skin appears to be from flea allergies, we will be doing a skin cytology to rule out any forms of mange. Her teeth weren't great and only needs one k9 removed so she will ideally need to be on a soft food/wet food diet for the rest of her days. She is thankfully heartworm negative and aged to be around 10 years old.
We do also have a wonderful foster already lined up for her once her stray hold is up to also give her the wonderful time and attention she needs.
If you would be interested in donating towads any of her vet/medical bills we enourage you to contact Gimme Shelter Thrift Shop - Smithfield, VA as they are a wonderful non-profit orginization who assits out shelter animals in more ways then one.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ellie, a Windsor Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Windsor, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Windsor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Windsor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Windsor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Windsor paves the way for another one to be saved.
