I am already neutered, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Seth's Story...
Seth is an adorable Chihuahua mix who loves attention. He's only 6 pounds and is the perfect size for any lap. He was a stray who came in with a broken back in two places and unfortunately, can not use his back legs. He is being fitted for a cart and is in foster care at this time. He loves other dogs, kids, cats, or any other living creature. This little boy is a miracle and has the biggest heart, spirit, determination and the most fantastic personality of any dog we have ever seen. If saving a special needs dog is a dream of yours, Seth would love to meet you.

For more information or to see Seth, submit an online dog adoption application at After reviewing the application, staff will contact you—typically within 48 hours— to make an appointment to visit the farm where our dogs and horses are kept.

Our dogs and horses are NOT at the HSFC shelter at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA--only our cats, birds, rabbits, and small mammals can be visited there. Come by and see us!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Seth, a Fairfax Chihuahua/Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Beagle for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Chihuahua/Beagle dog from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Beagle breeders who help with Chihuahua/Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
