My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darth is a real cutie pie! He was born around 3/20/16 and came to CARES as an owner surrender from someone who purchased him from a breeder at a flea market. The breeder said Darth was a Golden Retriever/Basenji mix. There are no papers so we cannot be certain. However Darth is super friendly and cute! He walks well on a leash, is crate trained and should house-train quickly. Darth is smart, treat motivated and loves to learn! He already knows sit and paw (can be seen on video). This boy is playful and seems to get along with everyone - all dogs and cats. He is approximately 28 pounds at 5 months old - so he isn't going to be a large dog. Darth does well in a safe, fenced yard for playtime and doesn't dig, bark, climb or have any bad habits. This boy is fully vetted and ready for his forever home! He is looking for an inside forever home where he will get lots of training and attention that he deserves. Could that be you? If you are interested in Darth, you can contact us at info.caresga@gmail.com for an adoption application or you can download an app directly from our website www.caresga.org! A vet reference is required for adoption approval (this means you must have or previously have had a dog or cat so we can verify that they were sterilized, current on all vaccines and on monthly heartworm and flea preventatives). WE DO ADOPT UP NORTH and all over so just e-mail us for details!
Adoption fees for puppies are $300, adults dogs are $250 and senior dogs are $150. This includes each animal being current on age appropriate vaccinations including DHPPL, bordetella and rabies, de-wormed for any internal parasites (round worms, hook worms, tape worms and whipworms), tested heart-worm negative (if positive, they are treated), tested negative for tick borne diseases, spayed/neutered, implanted with a mini micro-chip and have been examined by a veterinarian to certify that they are healthy. All animals are also on a monthly regime of flea and heartworm medication. Lifetime registration for the micro-chip as well as 30 days of free pet insurance is also included in each adoption fee. In addition, each adopter will go home with a fitted collar, tags, a bag of dog food the pet has been on, Forti-Flora, and an adoption kit filled with valuable information and coupons as well as other various treats or toys as promotions become available. All puppy adoptions include a puppy training book, the Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell, to help ensure a smooth transition for your new family member.
We ask that you consider an additional donation on top of this pet's adoption fee. This money will go directly into our Adoption Fund to be used exclusively for rescuing and caring for other pets in need. Many pets we take in have very high vet bills to get them healthy and adoptable for the public - much higher than their adoption fees. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from our community and caring adopters to continue our rescue efforts!
