Here's what the humans have to say about me:
8/25-UPDATE- Cookie is being monitored under the watchful eye of a medical foster for the night. She will go back to the vet's in the morning for more tests and evaluation. We are hoping her prognosis will be good and that there are no lingering symptoms.
COOKIE (F, lab mix, cream, 4-6 weeks) This is Cookie (our name for her). Cookie was found at a church, she could not stand, was trembling terribly, was crawling with fleas, and was very weak. She was crashing. She also has hair missing on her feet and her tail (a rat tail). She was dehydrated and her gums were white. At the time we did not know that there were other puppies coming from the same location which arrived later, one was already deceased. Most of the other puppies have the same hair loss pattern, are also covered in fleas but they weren’t as weak. We are not sure if they are all from the same litter but it seems so.
These are the preliminary notes from the vet: Puppy neurological. Not caused by low blood sugar. Do we know if they bathed her in a flea shampoo or put something on for fleas (this is how cats usually present with flea med over dose). Can run Chem panel to check for metabolic reason (liver/kidney). Gave capstar as covered in fleas and she is eating. Temp normal. Hair loss on tail and back legs so checking for mange.
So, we aren’t completely sure but it may be poisoning. As we get more information and results we will update. We will be raising funds to help us cover the cost of her medical needs and we are praying she has no permanent damage.
