My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Under Care: Phoebe Is Recovering and Will Soon Be Ready for a Great Life
7-9 month old, female, black and tan German Shepherd Good with other dogs: Unknown Good with children: Unknown Good with cats: Unknown
Poor Phoebe! She was on the streets and was hit by a car! A veterinary practice took her in and treated her horrible injuries, but of course, SPR knew we had to bring this girl in and give her lots of love and attention while she recovers.
She was “degloved” in the accident, meaning she lost most of the skin and tissue on her front paw. With extensive treatment requiring special bandage changes, the vet thinks her paw will recover, but she’ll stay with SPR until she’s well. Our volunteers have been trained to handle her special bandage changes and administer pain medication. She also has a fracture that will be treated once her paw recovers.
Phoebe weighs about 65 pounds right now, but could stand to gain some weight. She hasn’t even had a chance to be a puppy yet, so we don’t know much about her personality. She does love people, although she’s understandably scared after all the trauma. She’s a young German Shepherd so once she recovers, she’ll likely need a fairly active household that can give her positive training and lots of love to make up for her rough start in life.
As always, if you are interested in a Saving Paws dog, you must fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application.
