My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cherry.  Cherry is an approximately 6 months old female red and white with a smooth coat.  She is typical of a lot of border collies, as she is kind of shy until she meets you, then she warms up to you.  From there, she is all over you.  She is a very active pup who needs an active family or life style. She requires consistent daily exercise along with mental stimulation to keep her balanced.  Additionally, at this age, it is important to keep her socialized as she perhaps will soon go through her second fear stage.  If this is not done, then BCs can develop phobias which may lead into fear based aggressive traits if not addressed properly.  Many BCs are relinquished to rescue at this age, because their owners did not research this breed prior to owning one.

Cherry is very smart. She already knows her basic obedience command of sit and stay, and she is working on down. She gets along very well with other dogs and loves to run and play. She also likes water!  She is currently being leashed trained and doing well. Like all puppies she can become destructive if left alone too long as she gets bored.  She is also almost housetrained if you let her out often. She will go all night without an accident. We are not sure about cats as she has not been exposed to them.  She would do best in a home without small children as she is quite active.  A border collie savvy home is a must! NO apartments or townhomes, she needs a yard to run and play in.

Cherry's adopters must be committed to work with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents.  As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must.  This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well-adjusted adult dog in your family.

If you are interested in meeting Cherry, please submit an adoption application.  In addition to the adoption application, applicants will be required to answer some additional questions pertaining to puppies which will be sent to you after the adoption application has been submitted.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
