Barney's Story...
Barney came in with another rescue Buttons and we feel they have never been outside of a cage before. His entire existence has been viewed from inside a wire cage. They both came in partially shaved their feet unseen due to the hair that grown around the pads. He is scared of the new world around him. He has been with ATTR for several weeks now. Buttons and Barney are making progress with the staff slowly. They are still very scared of the world. We are looking for Foster homes for them independently. We need the potential fosters to come in and work with them building up relationships with them first. When able to handle them without the help of the staff then they can be moved into homes for the next step of the rehabbing.
Alsip To The Rescue (ATTR) strives as a rescue to make sure that when our adopters take home their new rescue they feel they have the support and access to all resources which ATTR can provide. If you want to learn how you can set your new rescue up to succeed and blend in with your family, we will give you tips on what to do when you first bring home a new rescue. You can fill out an application in the to meet our rescues. www.alsiptotherescue.org!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barney, a St John Shih Tzu/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in St John, or seeking a Shih Tzu/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in St John.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St John already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St John breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Shih Tzu/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St John paves the way for another one to be saved.
