Facts about Austin

  • Breed: Plott Hound Mix
  • Color: Brindle - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male

He has a great personality!! Super chill!!
He was a street dog....and in some ways will remain that in his mind.
He will eat raw veggies right out of the garden and apples off trees.
So, that means if you have tasty veggies and fruit within reach on the counter he will eat them. Tummy- tough as nails!!
Austin has seasonal allergies. He currently is taking OTC allergy meds, but as fall is getting here I see he needs more to ease his itchy ears and feet.
He takes fish oil/coconut tablets for his skin...oily yet itchy. Off and on !
His vision is going. About 1/2 gone. Very hard for him to see at night and in shadowy areas. Usually then he just follows his nose. So if you hold out a snack in low light, he tries to see the bite and snaps some times but he can't really see it at night time or in dim light. People think he is being mean, but he’s not.
We/vet, think he has had some eye trauma. And some cataracts developing. This has had no negative influence on his disposition. His life is complete with a comfy bed and good food and snacks.

He does not realize how solid he is so when he leans on your lap
he’s a lap full.

Austin loves his soft bed. And does not think it is a toy! He does like to play with you and chasing toys and tossing them around.
Plothound Mix @9yrs old.(we really don't know) A forever young kinda fellow!
I have had Austin since the spring of 2012. He came on a rescue transport from Ohio. I was his temp foster for another rescue, who signed for him. But once they realized he was a mature street dog and it would take some time to be house trained, they sent him back to me. Current on shots/negative HW.

Adoption guidelines:

I require a home visit to observe what the home living environment will be with you.

I require a vet reference.

100.00 adoption fee

I have found that my dogs do best when potential adopters give of their time and come to visit at least twice and hang out and walk with them and mingle and get to know them well. Especially, with the big boys and girls...can people handle a medium to large dog.

And a signed contract that DSR dogs will be returned to me and Doggies Serious Rescue if it does not work out, in any time frame.

About Waldo's Muttley Crew

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of people who, first and foremost, love animals and want to assist dogs & cats in need. We attempt to educate people concerning appropriate pet care as well as the importance of spay/neuter in order to address the severe over-population of these animals in the U.S.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application. You can find that application on our website -- -- click on "Applications", then "Adoption Application". This is no way obligates you to adopt, but it helps to determine if a particular rescue would be a good fit for your family.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption fees generally range from $100-$250. We require completion of an application after which we proceed with a verbal interview, make personal and veterinary reference checks, then conduct a home visit to verify that the home is pet-friendly and safe. Upon approval of an application, we require the signing of an adoption agreement contract which specifies that appropriate care will be taken of the animal in question as well as requiring return of the pet to the organization if the adopters are unable to keep it at some point in the future.
