My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Piper! Piper is roughly 1.5 years old and weighs about 50lbs; she probably won’t get any bigger than that. This Hound mix is such a sweetheart and has a very calm and gentle demeanor. When introduced to new dogs, she is very polite and allows them to sniff her while she patiently waits her turn. Piper hasn’t been around children or cats but with her mellow attitude, we think she’d be great with both.

Upon new introductions, Piper gets super excited to meet other 4-legged friends. She keeps her composure and loves to play but still remains calm. As a pretty submissive dog, she gets along with pretty much everyone and would be a great dog park dog. She absolutely loves people and is very eager to meet them, while still remaining relaxed and composed. She doesn’t jump and never barks!

Though Piper is not quite housebroken, she’s nearly got the hang of it! She keeps her crate clean and sleeps through the night, but when sleeping outside of her crate she still has trouble holding it until morning. She’s learning to stand by the door or nudge her foster dad if she needs to go out. She’s also working on crate training; though she doesn’t always go in willingly, she is very polite while in her crate.

For as young as she is, Piper’s energy level is pretty moderate. She’s always ready to play if you are, but is also content with lounging around with her people. Walks are one of Piper’s favorite forms of exercise and is good with a couple of long walks per day, along with some play time. She’s proven to be quite intelligent and picks up on commands and tricks quickly. Her favorite toys are squeaky stuffed animals and the ideal home would have a yard with another play mate for this gal. She’s such a big ball of love and always accepts pets and affection. When you stop, she’ll nudge your hand or leg to remind you she is there, but she is not overly needy by any means.

This big goofball can be caught sleeping on her back with her legs stretched straight into the air! Watching people and keeping them in site is a regular routine of hers and she has become quite the little shadow, following Foster Dad everywhere he goes, shifting her goofy position to keep her eye on him! She’s an absolute gentle sweetie and Foster Dad reports that he has never met a more loving dog in all of his life. She’s so content to have a home and people to play with.

If you’re looking for a canine companion who will stand by your side and show you how to love, Piper is perfect! All she needs to work on is a little more potty training, and she’ll be the perfect pet!
