My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pearl amazes me everyday. She has had a rough start to life and most likely was chained up outside with little food or attention. Despite this, she has nothing but love to give. Pearl has embraced this second chance and deserves to be spoiled rotten. No one is a stranger. She is learning very quickly how to be an inside dog and enjoys soft beds and couch cuddle time. She is having no problems going through doors, taking the stairs and walking on the different floor textures such as carpet, tile and hardwood. Pearl does fine with the resident cat, and needs some patience and special introductions when meeting fellow canines that might share her space. She is excellent at doing her business outside when on a schedule. She is very food motivated and is learning basic commands quite quickly. Pearl sleeps with her human at night. She likes to be near her human and aims to please. Her favorite time is curled up next to you on the couch. She needs to gain some weight still, and her ideal weight will be around 30 pounds. Pearl would be a great addition to a home that is looking for an older dog to chill and cuddle with. Her past experience has not dulled her spirit; in fact, she has taken her second chance at life to live it to the fullest! Pearl is about 6-8 years old and 25 lbs.

Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed and size when grown.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday September 17, 2016, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
