Facts about Ludo

  • Breed: Mastiff Mix
  • Color: Brindle
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more
  • Sex: Male
Ludo Mastiff: was very friendly with people to start with and we were able to administer vaccines and have him neutered. Has also been friendly with other dogs and does not show any aggression towards them. However, the longer he has been here the more depressed and unpredictable he has become. Staff can handle him to get him in and out of play yards but that is about it. We can no longer show him to people who are interested because of his unpredictability and because he takes a long
time to trust people. Ludo has an issue with someone who approaches him too fast. He will grab your hand, and has done this.
He has become very trusting of one of our volunteer, she takes him on car rides and day trips. He is fantastic in a car and is well behaved unless you reach in thru a window. This has helped with the depression but is not the answer. Ludo has been dog friendly so far and I am really hoping there is a place for him. He truly deserves so much more than we can offer. He needs an expeiences home with no small children. Other dogs or cats. If you think you can help him find his forever home please contact us.

About Southern Paws Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

For the last year we have been working specifically with rescues in Louisiana and Mississippi, which is where are dogs are currently located. All of our dogs are adopted on a pre-adoption basis and then transported to NJ after the adoption process is complete. Upon arrival they go into a 24 hour monitoring period, where we make sure that they have made it through transport safe, happy, and healthy. After that 24 hour period, these dogs go into their forever home. It is a long journey but it is well worth the trip. There is an adoption fee on our dogs. This fee is a reimbursement for all of the services that we have provided to the dog being adopted. We put all of our dogs through a very stringent vetting process, deworm them multiple times, run fecal exams, spay & neuter, vaccinate and have them checked multiple times by the vet. Before they are transported, each of our dogs must receive a health certificate clearing them for travel. This fee also helps us cover the cost of transport and any other medical attention the dog may require upon arrival. The fee for all of our dogs is $400.00. Because all of our dogs are pre-adopted and we don't have a facility in the state of NJ (YET!) there is no meet and greet process with our dogs. If you must meet the dog before you adopt then that is totally understandable, however we may not be the best program for you. We do have a back up program just in case a dog doesn't do well in his new home. In that case the pup goes back into foster care and will be put up for adoption again in the state of NJ.
We have also recently started working with our local shelters and rescues to help re-home animals in our area. This program is strict and is something that we are trying to do to help out locally when we are not running transports!
We have been talking about the future a lot, here at Southern Paws Inc. I am excited to tell you that it is one of our goals to have our own facility within the next 3 to 5 years. We also hope that within the next year or so we will be able to branch out and work with other Southern states in need, such as Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina. Our hope for the future is to continue to save lives and do the rewarding work that we do.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is very simple.

1) A phone call with one of our representatives to find out what it is that you are looking for, what your home is like, and who lives there. We then try to make sure that the dog you are interested in, is going to be a perfect match for your household.
2) You are emailed an application which is filled out and then scanned back to us.
3) It normally takes a couple of days for an application to be processed, but once approved we do a home check.
4) Adoption fee is $400.00. This is a reimbursement for all that we have done your dog. This fee covers all of their vetting, vaccinations, spay/neuter, health certificate and evaluation, and their cost of transport.
