Meet Ellie Mae! Ellie Mae is a beautiful Australian Cattle dog mix and weighs just under 45lbs. She is fully housebroken, crate trained, and loves other dogs! The neighborhood children have been a new addition to Ellie Mae’s friends’ list and she is instructed to sit before they come up to her. Any pets and love they give her are accepted without hesitation! She truly just enjoys all the attention she can get.
If you’re looking for a friendly and kissy companion, Ellie Mae is your lady! She loves to just collapse in your lap and love on her humans. Thunder scares her, as it does many pups, but she handles it well. Foster Mom puts a thundershirt on her and she stays by her side. Ellie Mae is always looking for something to do, so it’s important to keep her stimulated with dog toys. While she was on her heartworm treatment, she wasn’t allowed very much exercise, but now that it’s complete, she loves long walks and play sessions! When Foster Mom is home, Ellie Mae just loves to be the center of attention and will nudge her way to make sure she knows that she’s there. She’s still working on her manners, but when left alone she is perfectly content.
Cats do not currently reside in Ellie Mae’s foster home, but we’ve been told that she does just fine with them and ignores them. When she sees them from a distance, she barks at them, but she does the same thing with children and dogs, and is ultimately fine. At the dog park, she gets along great with the other pups and just loves to run and play with them. She also enjoys greeting every person that she sees there! Her current 4-legged canine roommate and her get along splendidly, but she is a bit pickier when it comes to roommates; Ellie Mae would do great in a house with another submissive dog since she is a dominant female. Having another dog gives her the exercise and stimulation she needs, but if you plan to smother her with love and attention without a pup, that’ll work too!
Ellie Mae is one of the most loyal pups and just wants to be around her people. Even when they're in the bathroom... doesn't matter where, Ellie Mae is there! Squeaky toys are a FAVORITE of Ellie’s and she can be mouthy when she plays, but she is working on her manners, including keeping all 4 on the floor. If you’re looking for a treat motivated, loyal, canine companion, Ellie Mae is your gal! In fact, she’d probably do great in agility training if you’re looking for an athlete to add to the family!
