Markey was rescued from the Carson Animal Shelter on the day he was meant to be euthanized. He was extremely shy but has overcome his fear of people. He is great meeting new people and dogs. He lives with two small dogs and one large dog now, and he loves them. He should be placed with a family who has a lot of time to spend with him, he does have separation anxiety that we countered with keeping him in the kitchen with another dog, or taking him to work with us. He also has escaped from our backyard before, a secure backyard will be important. He is potty trained, and is working on being kennel trained. He started his basic training, learning to sit and lay down, which he learned quickly. He is now learning to retrieve and stay. Which is a huge step considering we don’t know if he ever left his kennel before now! He is learning to play with toys, which we don’t think he ever learned to do before, so he can be comically awkward. He can get overly excited in new situations or when approached by an over excited dog. He should be adopted with other dogs, not sure about cats. He needs a small walk a day, or a hike a week. He is pretty mellow at home but he can get hyper when you get home. He has a calm disposition, LOVES to cuddle, wants to learn, and wants to be a part of a family. Finally he is so sweet, derpy, loving, and adorable.
