Bernie is an 8 yr old 33 lbs mix of maybe Border Collie, Rat Terrier, could be some chihuahua in there. Bernie is SO not the kind of dog to wander off from his family which really makes you suspect that he was "put out" probably because it was easier than taking him to the vet........... After being turned in to the shelter as a stray, his family still chose not to reclaim him.

We took Bernie in because he needed help, we knew something was wrong. He had 3 large masses that needed to be checked out, a tiny cyst on his eyelid - just big enough to rub his eye and cause pain and infection - and teeth that hadn’t been properly cared for. It turns out the lumps are lipomas (just fatty tumors) the cyst has been removed from the eye, and he had 7 teeth extracted. And BOY does Bernie feel better!!!

Bernie is so very sweet! He is quiet, walks well on leash, crate and housetrained. He likes other dogs but tends to want to hang out with the less rambunctious crowd! He is oblivious to cats. He is vaccinated, neutered and heartworm tested negative and microchipped.

Bernie is a wonderful, easy going, low key guy who just needs some TLC and a real forever home this time!

About Cherokee Pet Rescue (Cherokee County Humane Society Dogs)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a network of foster homes of people who provide temporary foster care primarily for Cherokee County's strays and displaced animals while they await their forever homes. Our primary foster homes are approved fosters for Cherokee County Humane Society. In addition, we list animals for other licensed rescues. Many of our rescued pets come from shelters, but we also take them in directly from owners when we have room. This allows us to lessen the burden on the shelters. We also help independent rescuers place their rescued pets. Lastly, we also provide postings for owners needing assistance in rehoming their own pets
