If you are looking for a loving, laid-back, totally agreeable companion to keep you smiling (and warm!), you have got to meet Oreo! He is approximately 2 years old, and is a larger border collie cross, around 50 lbs. He thinks he may have a rough collie or even a husky in his background, but mom was not telling.
He spent most of of his time before he came to his foster home outside, so he is
absolutely loving being inside the house, and his discovery of the bed was an occasion of hilarity. He loves to snuggle on the bed, but he is quite content to lie on the floor beside his foster “parents” or by the door.
He plays quite gently with the other dogs, but he can hold his own in a vigorous wrestling match. He gets along just fine with the cats, and has even let them steal a kibble or two from his dish...
Oreo has gotten a wee bit protective of his food dish on a couple of occasions, but listens well when he is told to stop. He is not delighted to go into a crate but he does not resist, and he settles right down once he is inside. He walks quite well on a leash, and he knows basic commands such as ‘sit,’ ‘down’, and ‘stay.’ He will shake a paw for you, and he probably has a few more tricks up his fur that he has yet to reveal. He is doing very well with the house training, considering he was an outside dog, and would only need to be reminded to get all the way outside before lifting a leg - those doorways are a little confusing!
Oreo quite likes to be brushed, and he does need regular brushing, but he has a lovely coat when it is all done. He is very agreeable about being handled in general...well, he is actually just very agreeable!
Do you want to run, or walk for a long while? Great! A long nap? Sounds good.
Popcorn and a movie? He is in. A barbecue and a rousing game of chase the other dogs around in a circle? Why not? Oreo is your go-to guy for whatever you want do, and he will be happy to be there for you. Give this handsome boy a chance to be your new fellow traveler on any of the roads you choose.
