My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BOWMAN is a 4 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 55 pounds. Bowman is a great pup who loves to be around you to get petted and attention, he has not had a lot in his life. Had him in the vet today to get a vaccine and he greeted everyone that came in with a wagging tail and a play bow. When he wags his tail his whole body wiggles. Loves to fetch and play with toys. Bowman is doing well. Ideal home would have a family that would give him lots of attention and love. Bowman is not used to any life except being in a pen so needs a house with a fenced yard that he can play in. Good with other dogs, lived with a hound and has been out playing with some of the other dogs at the kennel. Knows sit, come, Will have a training addendum. Hasn't been on a lead much but is getting better, good with an Easy Walk harness. Being crate trained. Bowman story: Owner got him as a puppy, he was in the house until he was about 5 months old then put in a pen with a doghouse. Since then he has lived in the pen with a hound and got attention sometimes. He has never been to a vet and was about 15 lbs. underweight. Owner’s aunt talked him into giving him up to Lab Rescue so we could get him a good home. She told me Bowman is a good dog but has never been given much attention so he is very playful when someone goes to his pen as he just wants to be with you. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update:: Bowman is an adorable small 4-year-old male Lab who needs to gain just a few more pounds to reach his 55-lb goal weight. He is an excellent snoopervisor who loves to be with his people when he is not sleeping in his crate or on the couch. Bowman is a curious pup who enjoys a game of tug-of-war and loves to play with other dogs (and would likely enjoy living with canine siblings). This past week, he discovered the joys of dog play and now rests up during the day in anticipation of his daily late afternoon play dates at the neighborhood dog park (for which he often will start bumping FM’s elbow about an hour before it’s time to leave). He is easy to walk and rides well in the car. Bowman doesn’t mind his crate but has proven to be trustworthy in the house such that his crate door is rarely closed. If you are looking for a new love who will follow you around the house, this cutie with a perfect propeller tail will steal your heart!

Update: Bowman has adjusted to his foster home beautifully. He has become a wonderful companion and has discovered the joys of dog play and napping. He also discovered the neighborhood dog park and it's late afternoon play group. Think of the Cheer's bar "where everyone knows your name" translated into a dog park where everyone greets dogs by name (and no one cares about the owner's names). After having so much fun the prior two days, yesterday he arrived first and was continually greeted with "Hey, Bowman!" as ten different dogs streamed in over the next 90 minutes. This guy takes cute to new heights with his adorable face, huggable body, and focused attention. Foster Mom sometimes loses sight of him in the house and looks for him only to discover that he is following directly behind never more than a few inches away. If you're looking for a new love, this guy will steal your heart!

Update: Bowman is a gorgeous 4-year-old boy in a puppy's body with a perfect propeller tail. He's a beautiful small Lab weighing 55 wiggly lbs who wants to be your shadow. He loves to be active and will constantly try to engage you in a game of tug-of-war (with toys or blankets or bath towels or any other item that looks fun). He loves to hang out on the couch with you but be warned that he thinks it should involve play and perpetual motion. After spending much of his earlier life in a pen, he's all about making up for lost time! He's a great helper in the kitchen where he will peer into the refrigerator with you to help find stuff, take a look on the counter to offer assistance, and watch you cook to ensure you're doing it right. He rides well in the car but should be restrained or he'll likely try to help navigate. In his world, you can never get enough walks or play time, so he sleeps with one eye open to ensure he's ready to go should you look his direction while he's getting some quiet time. He's a curious pup who will do best being crated when you're not home. If you want a Lab who is an excellent snoopervisor and loves spending time with you, BOWMAN's your boy!
