She rewards laptime with a resounding purr, and as an American Curl, she has some of the cutest ears you'll see at the shelter. Miranda is feline leukemia positive, so she needs to go to a home with no other cats or those who also have FeLV. Furry Friends lowers the adoption price and will provide basic ongoing veterinary and supportive care for Miranda and her adopter.

Furry Friends is an Iowa non-profit serving central Iowa's animals in need. Furry Friends is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible organization. Furry Friends seeks to assist all animals in need through a variety of programs. Furry Friends is operated completely by volunteers and all donations go directly to the programs it operates. Unlike local traditional shelters, Furry Friends receives no assistance by local, state, or federal governments.

SAT and SUN: 11am to 5pm

DM Location:
1723 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309
MON thru Fri: 10am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm
SAT and SUN: 11am to 3pm

Our Adoption Process...

Kittens under 4 months -- $100 for one, $150 for two
Cats over 4 months -- $75 for one, $100 for two
Puppies under 4 months -- $125
Dogs over 4 months-- $100
Rabbits -- $50 for one, $80 for two
Guinea Pigs -- $15 for one, $25 for two
Rats - $8.00 for one (only if you have an existing rat), $10 for two, $50 for family with cage

The main caregiver and an adult in the family are required to be present and meet the animal to adopt. An application and signed contract is required, and homeownership or verification from a landlord that the pet is allowed is required. Dog adoptions require an introduction to all members of the family as well as any existing dogs.
