“I brought PJ from the Shelter to A DOGS DREAM on Friday, and brought him back on Sunday! He was such a sweet boy and a perfect gentleman! Rode in my car and sat so nicely and he loves ice cream. Used his best manners while eating his cone from my hand. I fell in love with him and know some family will too if they give him the opportunity and spend some time with him.” -Mary Jean F.
“PJ does get along with male dogs too, as long as they are calm and don't bother his playtime with girls LOL! This boy is big and tough looking and acts tough in his kennel, but once he is out from kennel he totally has a different personality. So sweet and gentle...very skittish to big noises. He hates thunderstorm” -Yuko M.Please visit our website, www.colonialcapital.org to fill out an application today!

About Colonial Capital Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of Colonial Capital Humane Society is to rescue and relieve the suffering of abused, abandoned, and stray animals; provide for their care until forever homes can be found; and create greater public awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering and humane treatment of animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our shelter is located at 1860 Old Airport Road in New Bern, NC. Since we are an all-volunteer organization, appointments are required to visit our available pets.

We have adopt-a-thons several times a year at PetSense (located beside Harris Teeter) in New Bern.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption application is located on our website. Home visits will be made and vet references must be provided. There is an adoption fee on all animals that helps to offset the cost of veterinary care and spay/neuter of the animal. The basic adoption fee is $150 for cats and $175 for dogs. This fee may vary depending on the pet. Please contact adoptions@colonialcapital.org for more information.
