My owner had never made the time to take care of me so they failed to walk me and teach me how to interact with the world. When they left me at the pound, I was so scared that I did not eat, interact with anyone, or move within my cell, other than uncontrollably shake in fear. Since Forte picked me up, I have learned a lot. I have gotten pretty good walking on leash and will sit if you dangle a treat in front of me. I know, I know...I need to learn my commands, but why can't I get a treat EVERY time? I would do well with a gentle doggy companion to teach me how to enjoy my life, and will do great with older and mature children. When I am feeling safe, I like to explore my surroundings, but my most favorite thing is to be by your side every moment I can! If you are looking for little shadow, that is me! If you like to cuddle while watching TV or sleeping, me too! If you enjoy going on long walks, I want to go with you! If you wish to see my smiling face every day and help me discover how full life is meant to be, can you let Forte know you would like to take me home?

Our Adoption Process...

All potential adopters are carefully screened through our adoption process:

- If you're interested in an animal, we'll ask that you fill out a questionnaire, which we will review to ensure you and the dog you are interested in adopting are a good match.

- You will be asked to submit to a "home safety check" to determine the level of safety and adequacy of the area for the dog.

- An adoption fee is required and you must sign the adoption agreement, which ensures that if, for any reason, you are unable to keep the dog, he/she to be returned to Forte Animal Rescue only.

- Finally, we personally deliver your new family member to your home.

- Any additional donation would be greatly appreciated, and this portion will be tax-deductible. The donation goes to pay for all of the other animals in our care, many of which come to us with injuries or medical conditions that require treatment. Forte Animal Rescue survives solely on donations and it is for this reason that the adoption fee is nonnegotiable.

- Forte Animal Rescue reserves the right to cancel the adoption process at any time if the home situation or adoptive family has been misrepresented, if certain information was withheld, or if the dog is determined to be a better match with another family.
