My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I want to tell you about Buddy. Buddy is my foster dog. Buddy’s human mom died in August 2016. For reasons I will never know, two days after Buddy’s mom died, he was surrendered to animal control. Buddy sat at animal control for over a month confused and probably missing his mom. Thankfully for Buddy, one of the shelter volunteers spent time with him and recognized what a special boy he was. She advocated on his behalf to save him and asked that someone please come to rescue this boy. That’s where I come in. I love big dogs. And Buddy is a big dog; a really big dog. He is just shy of 90lbs. I agreed to foster Buddy and had no idea what I might be getting myself into. The information I had was that Buddy was his name and that he had some sort of certification to visit schools. When we left the shelter, Buddy hopped in my car and gave me a lick and then settled in for the ride. It was obvious Buddy was used to going for rides in the car. When we got home, Buddy made a few laps around the house and then sat down. I got out some treats and found out quickly that Buddy knows sit and down and shake. I realized that someone had loved this dog and had invested in this dog. Buddy met my three kids and showered them with kisses. He met my 3 dogs and was content to say hello and then find a place to snooze. When I fed him dinner, he had no problems with putting my hands in his bowl. He has a soft mouth and accepts treats gently. When we went on a walk, Buddy didn’t pull on this leash. He just enjoyed his walk. I was thrilled to find out that Buddy was house broken! Buddy was happy to rest in his crate but was happier napping on the couch. Buddy is a snuggler and loves to curl up next to you and do nothing. Buddy quickly stole my heart just like he will steal yours. This sweet, gentle giant could is ready for a family that will include him in their activities and always make space for him on the couch. He deserves that and I bet his mom would want that for him too.
