My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We do not adopt dogs from phone calls or emails. Please do not fill in adoption forms anywhere else, but on OUR web site. Thanks for that.

To start our adoption process, please fill out our form on our web site at: www.spokanewienerdogs.org and see the Adopt a Dog/Fee page with more details on how we adopt our dogs. There are a lot of questions answered on our web site and personality details below about each dog BELOW so please READ BEFORE getting in touch. We already answer 500+ emails a day. We do answer questions on dogs once our adoption paperwork is filled in so we can match to the right homes.

Please indicate which dog you are interested in on our adoption form. If their name says "pending home" then they are not available and are on a test drive with a new family. We do remove our dogs when our adoptions are final so please do not ask us if dogs are available if you see their ads.

There is an adoption fee of $350 for this dog.

Picasso is very handsome but is an alpha so he would need a dachshund savvy home. We are working on dog manners here and so far so good. Let's face it. He is a total brat so if you are not one to make dogs mind by being firm and fair with them then he is not your boy.

This amazingly gorgeous was allowed to be overly protective of his people in the last home so here he is learning we do not need his help to protect us. I see him mellowing right out and being a good boy with some more time and socializing with dogs and people.

UPDATE: Picasso has learned the dogs are not in charge here so he has turned into quite a mellow, happy boy with us. He can be pushy though in a new home so folks will have to set ground rules and enforce them so he does not take over. We are screening homes carefully and making sure folks will crate him when gone, etc. He will take several months of training in his new home so do not apply for him if you do not have a fenced yard and time to work with a new dog.

He would do better in an adult home only please.

No cats please. He does fine with one other dog but not an overly pushy alpha please. He stays with us until I find him the right home. He loves toys and tennis balls too so we are working on him fetching more as well. I find his brains easy to train but he also accept me as his alpha in life.

He is 6 years old and a tweenie size about 14 pounds so he is not a mini but in between in a mini and standard.

We have taken him to several events now and he is stopping traffic at our adoption booth because he is so gorgeous. But we do not adopt gorgeous photos and we match personalities to their new lives.

I can see he will make someone a very sweet dog in his new home.
