Facts about Shamus

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black & White Or Tuxedo
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
This is little Shamus! He is only 22 weeks, and he is getting smarter and smarter each day. He is one of the rare kittens that doesn’t use his intelligence for evil (tipping things over/teasing dogs/etc.). He is playful, but prefers to just lay back, chill, and relax!

Since he is such a sweet loverboy, you will find him wanting to chill on your lap and get all snuggled up! Shamus is very friendly and easy to get along with. If you are looking for a laid back, sweet, and adorable little companion, Shamus may be just the guy for you! Please fill out an application ASAP, so you can meet him!
Please visit for foster and adoption applications or for additional information.

All of our pets are or will be spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccines prior to adoption. Please complete the application on our website and we will call you to answer any questions you may have.

Our adoption fees not only help the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need to be made available for adoption.

Thank you for choosing to adopt, foster, or aid in the rescue efforts of RARE!

About Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE)

About Our Rescue Group...

Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE) is an organization that is dedicated to saving animals in rural areas, mainly in 'pounds' and shelters, both high-kill and no-kill. There tends to be a higher overpopulation rate in rural areas due to lack of animal ordinances and alteration to prevent unwanted litters. Many animals are 'dumped' on country roads left to parish or end up at the local pound or animal shelter if they have an empty kennel. Many of these animals have a limited number of days before they are euthanized. In addition to placing animals in foster and adoptive homes, networking with rescues to assist in placement and adoption of animals, RARE also performs fundraisers for spay/neuters and other vetting to prevent further overpopulation and promote quality of life for the animals we save.

Come Meet Our Pets...
