Meet Millie, a spayed female rat terrier who arrived 9/17 from an overcrowded shelter that wanted to give her a second chance at life. We believe Millie to be at least 7 years old; these little dogs can live through their teens so she has many years left hopefully! She’s a sweetheart who loves to lie under her blankets-she just burrows away! Millie is in foster care and an appointment would need to be made if you’d like to meet this little snuggler. Her foster mom says this about her: Typical of many small dogs, she is possessive of her person and doesn’t like other dogs being around her person; rat terriers were bred to be tough little fighters, and she has an “I’m the queen” personality when it comes to other dogs. Besides that, she's a sweet, affectionate dog who loves attention. It's still unknown if she tolerates cats or kids, as I have neither. I think her perfect home would be one with an older person or couple, with no other pets. She's playing fetch with a favorite toy right now. I think she'd make a great companion for someone who's willing to take on an older dog that still loves to play!

About Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue

About Our Shelter...

Our mission is to rescue and provide sanctuary for stray and abandoned dogs and puppies and do our best to secure for each of them permanent, loving responsible homes. To promote respect and compassion for all creatures through humane education. To reduce pet overpopulation by increasing public awareness of the need to spay and neuter companion animals. To maintain and operate a shelter for dogs and puppies. NCCR is located in Westfield, NY which is between Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY.

Come Meet Our Pets...

If you would like to learn more about a specific dog or dogs, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue has open Monday through Saturday from 1-3 p.m. and the third Saturday of each month from noon to 3 p.m. If you are unable to visit during those hours, just let us know.

Our Adoption Process...

All puppies/dogs over 16 weeks of age will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The adoption fee is $175.00(includes spaying/neutering, age appropriate vaccinations, worming and microchip). If the puppy is too young for altering at the time of adoption, the adoption fee is $250. Adopter must sign contract agreeing to spay/neuter by specified date in the adoption contract. $125 is returned to adopter upon proof of spaying/neutering. The adoption fee includes age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and microchip.

We try to match each dog with its new home so that chances for a successful, lifetime placement are much higher. Each interested party is asked to fill out an application (www.caninerescue.org) which is then reviewed and processed. References are required.
