Millie's Story...
Meet Millie, a spayed female rat terrier who arrived 9/17 from an overcrowded shelter that wanted to give her a second chance at life. We believe Millie to be at least 7 years old; these little dogs can live through their teens so she has many years left hopefully! She’s a sweetheart who loves to lie under her blankets-she just burrows away! Millie is in foster care and an appointment would need to be made if you’d like to meet this little snuggler. Her foster mom says this about her: Typical of many small dogs, she is possessive of her person and doesn’t like other dogs being around her person; rat terriers were bred to be tough little fighters, and she has an “I’m the queen” personality when it comes to other dogs. Besides that, she's a sweet, affectionate dog who loves attention. It's still unknown if she tolerates cats or kids, as I have neither. I think her perfect home would be one with an older person or couple, with no other pets. She's playing fetch with a favorite toy right now. I think she'd make a great companion for someone who's willing to take on an older dog that still loves to play!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Millie, a Westfield Rat Terrier/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua for sale in Westfield, or seeking a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Westfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Westfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Westfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier/Chihuahua breeders who help with Rat Terrier/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Westfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
