My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Because we are all volunteers, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus only considers approved applicants to meet our orphans in our foster homes. Please read our eligibility requirements and apply on our website: www.ildoberescue.com/adopt.  After application is submitted, additional inquiries can email PlusDogs@ILDobeRescue.com

Bitsie is an 8 year old Rat Terrier. Bitsie came into IDR+ when her owner passed away and there was no one to take her in, so she made her way from Southern Missouri to her Chicago IDR+ foster home.

Bitsie was very scared at first, with her whole world being turned upside down. However, after settling into her foster home, she’s feeling much more comfortable. She’s a very sweet girl that loves to be pet and gets all wiggly when you have a kind word for her. She'll gladly lounge on the couch with you or go out exploring the neighborhood as she loves her daily walks.

As a Rat Terrier, she is very at home with her people and will take some time to warm up to strangers. She is a very affection girl who will follow you around the house and will make sure she is always by your side. Bitsie is pretty mellow, well behaved, housebroken, and is crate trained. Bitsie will make a wonderful watch dog as she will bark to let you know if she hears something suspicious or if someone is at the door and will quickly settle down once given the command.

She has the run of the house at her foster home. Bitsie gets along well with both large and small dogs, and even cats. However, due to the Rat Terrier's high-prey drive, she should not be housed with small animals.

Bitsie would thrive in a quieter home, with either no children, or older children as young ones would likely be too overwhelming for her.

The biographical information provided is correct to the best of our knowledge while the animal is in our care or includes what may have been provided by a previous owner. We strive to be honest and accurate, but animals can change their personalities and behavior when they settle into a new home. IDR+ makes no guarantees based on the information we observe and provide.
