Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mallory is the youngest of the beagles rescued in the Wharton area last month. She is probably not much more than a year old and has already had a litter of puppies. She is 13 inches tall, 18 pounds and free of heart worms!
Mallory can be very skittish around people. If you are sitting or at least not moving, she will come for pets and treats, but is still very untrusting of anyone who is walking toward her. She is extremely hand shy. She comes when called for dinner and will go into a kennel for her meal. She is all beagle when it comes to her appetite. She learned to use a dog door quickly and has never had an accident in the house.
Mallory is a different girl around other dogs. She is out-going and confident when it comes to being a member of a pack of beagles. She loves to wrestle with the big boys and can be a real bully when playing with them! She loves to be out in the yard playing chase and stalking squirrels! She bounces like a rubber ball when she gets bowled over by a larger dog in a game of chase. Mallory just bounces back up and takes after the leader of the race! She will need to have a home where she will have a canine buddy as a buffer between her and the world of two legged beings!
Mallory has a sweet nature that is just starting to emerge. If you are laying around on your bed in the evening, watching TV or reading, she will come up and lay down close to you. She will start snuggling closer when she gets the pets that she is learning to love. She will even roll over for a good tummy rub when she is feeling relaxed! She has a way to go, but without a doubt, Mallory will be worth the effort!
